LIVE LOUD: Raising the Volume on Mental Health and Addiction

Announcing the launch of a dynamic partnership with a sparkling, star-studded benefit concert this November

New initiative supported by title sponsor Bell Let’s Talk, along with Canadian Tire, Enterprise Canada and NHL

TORONTO, August 19, 2025 – Two non-profit Canadian organizations at the nexus of entertainment and mental health support are joining forces on mental health and addiction. Live Loud is a collaborative partnership between Matthew Perry House and Make Music Matter to leverage the world of entertainment and celebrity to turn up the volume on mental health needs.

“No more whispering — it’s time for yelling and doing,” says Caitlin Morrison, Executive Director of Matthew Perry House and sister of the late actor (who would have turned 56 today). “When we’re quiet about mental health and addiction challenges, we give them power. Live Loud is about making noise — an unapologetic rallying cry.”

This new initiative will kick off with Live Loud LIVE, a celebration concert in Toronto on November 14, featuring a dazzling line-up of musicians, including Serena Ryder, City and Colour, Billy Talent, Royal Wood, Amy Millan from Stars, and members of Sum 41, Broken Social Scene, Skydiggers, and Moist. Special guest Hank Azaria —the world-renowned actor, voice of many Simpsons characters, and long-time friend of Matthew Perry — will also be on hand to lead his EZ Street Band in a Bruce Springsteen tribute, with more artists still to be announced, with the concert to be hosted by Tara Slone and Tom Power.

“Mental health struggles divide and isolate us. That’s the last thing we need right now. Music joins us, embraces everyone,” says Darcy Ataman, Founder of Make Music Matter. “The message is simple — whether you’re helping someone on the street or standing in support, COUNT US IN. No excuses.”

The benefit concert will take place at Koerner Hall in the Royal Conservatory of Music, mostly by invitation with some tickets available to the public through the venue.

“We want people to enjoy the show, but this isn’t meant to be a passive exercise. We want them to join us in making noise, then carry that noise into real action on mental health programs,” Ataman says.

“We’ll scream it from the stage and into every channel we can: DO SOMETHING!” Morrison says. “Don’t ignore what’s happening because it’s uncomfortable. You have a voice – even if you don’t know what to do, you can help by supporting organizations that do know what to do.”

Embodying this spirit of supporting change-making organizations are the proud sponsors of Live Loud LIVE, Canadian companies who demonstrate their commitment to mental health every day. Thanks to Canadian Tire, NHL, and Enterprise Canada/Creative Currency for their support for this initiative.

And a very special thank you to Title Sponsor Bell Let’s Talk whose ongoing dedication to starting conversations about mental wellness is right there in their name.

“As Bell Let’s Talk heads into its 16th year of engaging Canadians to take action to create positive change in mental health, we are proud to support Live Loud and its mission to raise the volume on mental health and addiction awareness,” said Mary Deacon, Chair of Bell Let’s Talk. “The dynamic partnership between Matthew Perry House and Make Music Matter aligns with Bell Let’s Talk’s year-round commitment to raising awareness, combating stigma, and supporting mental health organizations in enhancing community care and access.”
